The other day, my friend sent a text in a group chat (called The Dolphin Squad) I am in and he said, “Y (insert infinite A’s here) s” I then asked him how it would ever get to the S because the A’s are infinite. Then he said one of the most confusing things, he explained to me that some infinity’s are smaller than others. Now I could not function with that thought, so he explained it a bit more. He went on to ask how many numbers are there between 0 and 1, an infinite amount. I knew this, is it kinda common sense by now, so that didn’t confuse me, but then he continued. He asked, how many numbers are there between 0 and 2, still an infinite amount, yet there are quite clearly more numbers, and it is still an infinite amount. This blew my freaking mind, just HOW????? I DON’T UNDERSTAND!!!! Since both are infinite, they are equal, infinities can’t be bigger than “other” infinities. Like I guess if I look at the small picture, I can see how it makes sense, but the thought of the INFINITY being bigger than other one is not possible, it is just simply not.
